FIRST CLASS RAILWAY SEAT
A NEW FIRST CLASS RAILWAY SEAT EXPERIENCE
Based on the ICE 3 Refurbishment briefing of Deutsche Bahn, a modular First Class Seat experience has been developed focusing on comfort, maximum discretion and highest flexibility.

CALM
CONCISE
TIMELESS
A calm and slick visual appeal, flush integrated and geometric, gives the seat a timeless yet modern classic look-and-feel.
MAXIMUM HEAD AND SHOULDER SPACE
The prominent headrest has been designed to guarantee a maximum shielding to the passenger aside and ideal rest comfort alike.
The straight vertical geometry of the seat guarantees a generous shoulder space fitting all passenger body sizes.
STEPLESS
FLEXIBILITY
A rail system integrated in the side shell of the seat allows a stepless adjustment of the back rest angle and seat cushion depth without limiting the leg space of the passenger seated behind.
GUARDING MIDDLE CONSOLE SHIELD
The closure of the interspace between neighboring seats allows the integration of several functional storage options and enhances the privacy and cocooning feeling for the passenger.

HIGHLIGHTING LIGHT ELEMENTS
Up-to-date LED strip light technology has been used to accentuate and highlight funktional elements.
The targeted usage enhances the User Experience, acts as safety / orientation feature and adds defuse well-being atmosphere to the cabin.

STORAGE FEATURE
All elements such as folding table, additional tablet / smartphone holder or cup holder are flush integrated to the back shell of the seat. Magnets hold fold-out elements in place when not in use. A patented push-push mechanism allows the passenger to unlock and adjust the footrest in different angles with the toes.

Sophisticated, high-value materials such as vegan leather are used for additional storage options.

CONSTRUCTION
The consequent modular construction of the seat allows easy and flexible customization and production of alternative version.
Fixed circular elements reduce costs of manufacturing and the maintenance complexity.
COUCH CLASS
VERSION
One example of a Couch Class seat version based on the modular system for SBB - Swiss Rail.
Fixed elements such as side panel, armrest, handle bar etc. have been used while flexible part have been replaced by individual elements such as cushions, headrest etc.
A durable vegan seat cover fabric has been introduced to replace leather cover.
REGIO TRAIN
VERSION
Regio Train Seat version.
A reduced hight of the outer composite shell and enhanced amount of fabric covered cushion parts led to a regional train version of the modular seat system.

TRANSFORMING MEGATRENDS
INTO CABIN CONFIGURATION
Santo Mobility has been asked by Deutsche Bahn to analyze current Megatrends and what they mean in regards to future train cabin configuration.
ANALYZING
MEGATRENDS
The project started out with a research into current Megatrends and what they mean to future customer desires of DB travelers.
Findings of a Trend-, Consumer- and Market-Research have been evaluated and translated into different Onboard Scenarios adressing the identified customer needs.
SHIFT AWAY FROM A TWO - CLASS
PHILOSOPHY
One of the big findings of the Research & Strategy part of the project is the fact that the current two-class philosophy DB is still using seems to be obsolete.
Santo Mobility highly recommend to shift towards equivalent "Experience Zones" fulfilling different needs of future DB travelers.

This cabin configuration concept ​focuses on different work and communication options during travel.

From lockable, four- person cabins for undisturbed meetings to small video conference cabins, all the way to vis-a-vis lounge areas for casual talks, the cabin concepts covers the main needs and desires of business travelers identified during the research phase of the project.
CASUAL STANDING WORKSPACES TO VIS-A-VIS LOUNGE
The open and generous cabin area offers several options from casual standing workspaces all the way to communicative vis-a-vis lounge chairs for casual communication and relaxation.

You want to get prepared for your presentation, alone or together with your colleague and need some quiet withdrawal or you just want to lean back, rest or even get some sleep overnight to go refreshed to you meeting the next morning?

A MODULAR CABIN CONFIGURATION
This modular cabin solution offers different withdrawal options from four person meeting scenarios to small, single cocooning rest cabins all the way to refreshment cells for overnight rides.

The scenario is based on one single core cushion module. Several different combinations and extensions allow the creation of different cabin solution for individual passenger needs.

A LUXURIOUS RIDE TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP
The goal of the product development was the creation of a sporty and comfortable seat experience fitting the sportive premium image of Kitzbühel.
REAL LEATHER SPORT SEAT APPEAL
Besides the amenity of seat heating, the high-value impression and the aesthetics of a car sports seat were the focus of the product development. Three- dimensional shaped side- and shoulder flanges, the integration of a head rest and the prominent shaping of the seam- and segmentation paddern support the impression of a high- value.
REAL LEATHER SPORT SEAT APPEAL
A prominent color scheme following the Kitzbühel Corporate Identity emphasizes the seating and back rest cushion. Black, surrounding side flanges help to support the sporty, slim and dynamic impression of the seat. The sports seat character is supported by the use of high- value real leather seat cover.

URBAN ROPEWAY SEAT

CONVERTIBLE
The use of ropeways in urban environments became more and more appropriate in recent years to provide a mobility alternative to blocked road traffic.

As one of the biggest supplier of ropeway systems Sigma asked Santo Mobility to develop a durable and convertible ropeway cabin seating solution for urban commuter needs.
HOT MOLDED PLYWOOD SHELL
Hot molded recycled plywood sheets were used to manufacture the core of the modular seat shell. Durable and easy to process, it is the ideal material for this field of application.

The common call for sustainability and the growing environmental responsibility awareness of the population, especially in urban environments made a rethink essential.
